5. 已知看法的例子可以略读

阅读中,假如已经知晓作者举例的目的,即用这个例子来讲明某个理论,解决某个问题或者证实某个看法,那样这个例子大家就可以略读。考生需要了解,考试知识点总是不是考例子本身,而是它的目的和用途。

例9 America’s injured workers could sue for damages in a court of law, but they still faced a number of tough legal barriers. For example, employees had to prove that their injuries directly resulted from employer negligence and that they themselves were ignorant about potential hazards in the workplace.
